The story of Lays Fasteners began over a cold rum and coke in February 2023, with a simple idea: to create a fastener supplier that builders, tradespeople and businesses could rely on. After months of planning, preparation and hard work, Lays Fasteners officially opened its doors in February 2024, establishing our store in Wānaka, Central Otago, New Zealand.

With over 16 years of combined industry experience, the directors of Lays bring extensive knowledge, passion and a commitment to helping customers find the right fastening solution. From construction and engineering projects to everyday repairs and maintenance, we provide a comprehensive range of fasteners, tools and accessories to suit a wide variety of applications.

Matt brings the vision and drive behind the business. Matt is always looking ahead, finding new ways to grow Lays Fasteners and build something the team can be proud of. He is passionate about great products, good people, and genuine relationships with customers.

With 12 years in construction and merchanting, Montana brings extensive industry knowledge, efficiency, and a passion for helping customers. While on maternity leave with baby #2, she continues managing Lays accounts. Montana is proud to see the dreams behind Lays continue to grow.

At 18, Matt completed a building apprenticeship in high-end residential homes, becoming qualified and LBP registered. After 2x back surgeries, he moved into architecture and window sales before joining Lays Fasteners as BDM. He also enjoys golf, skiing, boating, cars, and DIY projects.

Alyssa takes care of all of our Wanaka store customers and thrives on providing a good service to everyone who walks through our doors. Outside of work she loves spending time with friends and family, and days out on the boat.

Courtnie brings 3.5 years experience in the trade industry to Lays. You'll find her out on the road visiting sites, checking in on our customers, and working alongside Alyssa in our Wanaka store. She also loves skiing!

Rog is our main Wanaka rep with decades of industry experience in the trade industry, including training apprentices through BCITO. He always wants to keep people happy and meet Lays customers needs. Outside of work he loves time with family and getting outdoors.

Josh is a massive part of Lays growth and not only in the day to day function of Lays, but for the core of our business - our stock. Outside of work you'll find him on the golf course or up the mountain.

Jasons been with Lays since 2024 and comes from a background of building and project management. He works away in the back office with your plans, finding the right products for your job. Outside of work, he's passionate about skiing, which is how he first found Wanaka, travelling the world as a professional free skier. Before living in Wanaka, Jason lived in the French Alps and is a fluent French speaker.

Brett brings 10+ years of carpenter experience and knowledge into his sales role with Lays. Brett services Cromwell and enjoys showing people the variety of different fasteners that are available. Outside of work Brett enjoys hiking, camping, and fishing.

You'll find Kevin out on the road looking after our Queenstown customers. Kevin has worked in the trade industry for over 15 years. He loves getting out onsite and helping builders get what they need asap. Outside work you'll find him wakeboarding and mountain biking.
